Pay-per-click advertising works in tandem with natural and local search listings to permeate the search engine pages.

You may be asking yourself: Why should I pay for first page search engine placement when I can get it for free in the organic listings? If your hotel is on an extremely tight budget then there is some truth to that statement. However, for a truly effective and robust online presence it’s important to understand that the organic listings are just one of three possible listings a business can obtain on the first page of Google. These three listings are:

  1. Organic/Natural search engine listings
  2. Pay-per-click (PPC) advertisements (ie, Google Adwords)
  3. Local business listings (ie, Google Places/Google Maps)

We highly recommend that most hotels dedicate at least some budget to paid advertising throughout the year, even if it is just during certain seasons or promotions. In fact, a hotel with an ideal online marketing campaign should have a strong presence in all three of the key areas of the search engines--after all, having your hotel listed in three locations on the first page of the search engines better than one.
