Meet Phoebe Svoboda
Social Media Manager
Where are you from and how did you wind up at Blue Magnet Interactive?
I grew up in the ‘burbs, and moved to Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood in 2013. After studying music business management in college, interning for record labels, and a social media position at a local indie label, I had found my love for social in music. I pursued freelance work for various agencies and businesses before landing at BMI.
If we lived in a world without internet, what would be your alternate career?
A marine biologist. I would want to further focus my attention on science, research, and conservation. Also, I really like sea otters and want to help get them off the endangered species list.
Where is your favorite place you've traveled to and why?
There was a Kingsman-themed pop-up bar at Comic Con in San Diego in 2017, and it was the coolest thing I have ever seen. I don’t know many people who enjoy Kingsman like I do, so I made a ton of new friends, sampled a new bourbon, took home an embarrassing amount of swag, ended up on the official Kingsman Instagram page, and was told by the people from Fox that me and three of my new buddies were official Kingsman now. By far, the coolest thing that has ever happened to me, and since it was a one-time thing, nothing like that will ever happen again. Thanks Comic Con!
What is your guilty pleasure?
Buzzfeed Unsolved, Mysteries at the Museum, any show where the hosts get really excited about spooky houses and artifacts. They are very cheesy and over-dramatic, and it is delightful.
If you could have dinner with anyone (living, deceased, or fictional), who would it be and why?
Taika Waititi, Lin Manuel Miranda, and Mark Hamill. I think with their powers combined, they could help me step up my Twitter game.
What’s your view on Malort, Chicago’s traditional sweetest swedish liqueur?
I don’t like viewing Malort if I can help it, and yet it continues to haunt our office like the ghost that actually haunts our office.
